Lección 3: La Comprensión Auditiva

Parte 1: La Pre-actividad

In order to get ready for our listening activity, think about all of the vocabulary (e.g., la familia, la casa) and verbs (e.g., ser, tener, estar, etc.) we have learned to talk about ourselves. Practice making some of your own phrases answering the following questions:


¿De dónde eres?
¿Dónde vives (do you live) ahora?
¿Qué haces? ¿Eres estudiante? ¿Trabajas?
¿Qué vas a hacer en el futuro?
¿Cómo es tu familia?
¿Tienes hermanos?
¿Estás casado/a?
¿Qué hay en la casa de tus padres?

In the following activity you can expect to hear María talking about herself answering many of these same questions.


Parte 2: La Actividad

Now press the link in order to hear an interview with María. It may take just a moment for the sound to begin, however the recording should start automatically. You can stop, rewind, and play the audio as needed (I recommend listening to it at least 2 times); afterwards there will be a little quiz testing your comprehension of the recording. Use the above phrases as a guide for the questions that will appear in the next section.



Parte 3: La Prueba (Quiz)

After clicking on the link, click "Play this game". Then, first consider the phrases/questions in the column on the left. Once you have found the appropriate match in the right column to either finish the sentence correctly or answer the question, click the box in the left column first then click the corresponding box in the right column. A line should appear indicating the match you just made, and based on the 'score' indicated to the bottom-right of the activity, you can see whether you have answered correctly (i.e., if you get 1 point after you make a match, then you know you are right). If you have difficulty answering correctly, you can click the button that says "Answers", just under the 'score', and they will be revealed to you. Then, review the questions again on the matching quiz, and return to the recording (Parte 2). Listen to the interview again and try to hear the answers to the questions a second time.


Parte 4: La Extensión

Now, listen to the recording one last time (clicking on the above in Parte 2: María) and make at least 2 of your own multiple choice questions that were not addressed in the quiz, and indicate which is the correct answer. So, you will have to pick some information from the recording that was not evaluated in the matching quiz; you can write your questions in the Chat Box below (first indicate your name in the box: 'name', then type your questions in the 'message' box). Also, in that chat post include at least one question that you would ask María about her house(s) and/or family - but it has to be something she did not mention in the interview.
