To prepare you for the following lession on the vocabulary for chapter 3, think about all the different types of clothes you wear. Think about as many articles of clothing (in English) that you can for the respective body part.
| La cabeza (head) | El torso | Las piernas (legs) | Los pies (feet) |
| | | | |
Now that you have your list, check out this site and see how many words there are that you picked, and which ones are cognates:
Segunda parte/Part two:
Now go through the Powerpoint at least 2 times, and follow the directions and cues therein:
Tercera Parte/Part Three (Quiz):
After reading the clue in English, indicate the correct vocabulary word; the number of underscores ( _ ) indicates how many letters are in the word. Then, using any of the verbs (-ar, -er, -ir) we have studied, or any of the new ones directly related to this vocabulary (usar, llevar, vender, comprar) create a complete sentence for each word, using a different subject for each sentence (yo, tú, él, ella, usted, nosotros, etc). Send me your answers via email, and if you have errors in your conjugations or use of the vocabulary words, I will send you back your sentences indicating where your mistakes lie. And in order to receive full credit for the assignment you’ll have to make the corrections and send them back:
1) A formal garment worn over the whole body: _ _ _ _ _
2) A sweatshirt: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
3) The general word for 'clothes': _ _ _ _
4) A t-shirt: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
5) A formal garment worn by women over their torso and legs: _ _ _ _ _ _ _
6) Something worn on the head, sometimes to block out the sun: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
7) To wear (clothes): _ _ _ _
8) You need this to answer the question - ¿Qué hora es?: _ _ _ _ _
Una actividad de extensión/ An extension activity:
On this site, first create a character wearing different garments by simply selecting the category (e.g. "eyes") and then clicking on the garment or body part that you like. Then type a description (in Spanish) about your character, focusing on the descriptions about clothing (i.e., what they are wearing – pants, jacket, shirt – and what color they are, referring to page 101 in the text (if need be). Then bring your description to class Monday (lunes) for an interactive in-class activity where we will take turns trying to re-create your characters on the computer by hearing your descriptions (in Spanish).
Hola,
ReplyDeleteThe PowerPoint was helpful in giving a visual to what the vocabulary was. I liked how it was not a giant list, rather there were actual sentences to learn from.

Hola!
ReplyDeleteThe powerpoint was great. I found that fourth slide particularly funny cause it made my room mate give me a weird look. You know how to keep things interesting for sure! The southpark thing made me ready for the lesson this week. See you in class!

What really helped me with this assignment was having to look through all the words to find cognates. The power poin was also extremely helpful because it put a picture with the word.

This was a helpful assignment. I really liked the visuals in the powerpoint. They were extremely helpful. The list of all the cognates of clothing was very helpful as well.

Hola!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures on the powerpoint were entertaining and helpful in learning the new vocab. However the long list of words will probably come in handy more often because it is more complete and has more word options.

Hola Profe,
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else, I also enjoyed the visuals. However, more than just the visuals were helpful. I liked the pauses in the slides so I could take my time reading the sentence/question and could formulate an answer.
